Summary[edit]

Description
English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
Beginning in 1940 the Army ceased issuing jackboots (Marschstiefel, "marching boots") to rear-area personnel and authorized the wearing of the ankle-height work utility boots (Schnürschuhe, "lace-up shoes") with the field uniform. From 1941 Schnürschuhe were authorized for combat units as well, and the only footgear issued to new recruits; by 1943 their wear had become universal.
Lofoten War Museum: After the 1941 successful Lofoten Raid, German mountain troops (Gebirgsjägertruppen) were stationed in Lofoten, Norway. They wore enormous shoes resembling monsters, equipped with steel edges and spikes. No floor where the mountain soldiers were quartered, survived the steel-clad attacks by their boots.
  • Beer stein (Bierkrug), traditional German stoneware mug, as memorabilia souvenir from service in the Wehrmacht 1936
  • German Third Reich matchboxes featuring Nazi propaganda posters
etc.
Photo taken at the Armed Forces Museum (Forsvarsmuseet) in Oslo, Norway.
