Summary[edit]
DescriptionGerman High Seas Fleet (16386011577).jpg | Believe it or not this is a comic postcard. This is a Raphael Tuck Oilette postcard probably published in 1915 and the title is a sarcastic reference to the fact that the German High Seas Fleet would not come out and face the British Fleet. However on 31st May 1916 that all changed when Admiral Von Scheer brought the German High Seas Fleet out into the north sea and the inconclusive Battle of Jutland took place, after which the German Fleet returned to port never to come out again until the end of the war when the German Fleet sailed to Scapa Flow and surrendered. |
