German East Africa: Railway Additions
Description
Portrays new and proposed railway developments in northern German East Africa.Base maps are GSGS 3026 sheets Kilimanjaro and Karagwe (A2) produced at the Ordnance Survey Office in 1915 and 1917 respectively. Sheets portray hydrology, relief by spot heights and form lines, forests, roads and tracks, railways, settlements, place names and the international border with East Africa Protectorate, and include topographical notes. The series, including these 2 maps, are filed at Maps MOD GSGS 3026. New railway developments and, on Sheet A2, other corrections and additions have been added in manuscript.Sheet A2 bears the name 'Maj. Grogan' in manuscript, and a note in the War Office ledger reads 'Used for A2'.The Kilimanjaro sheet bears the manuscript note 'From E. Af. Expy. Force' and the stamp 'GBE'.
