| Description |
English: Something very special for people interested in geology: Outcrop in the so called "Schiefergasse" above Milbitz village (suburb of Gera, Thuringia), showing the so called Zechstein transgression. Terrestrial redbeds are overlain by a transgressional conglomerate grading into marine limestones (“Mutterflöz”, secured against rockfall by mesh wire and partly covered by vegetation).
Deutsch: Eine Besonderheit für geologisch Interssierte: Der Aufschluss in der sogenannten Schiefergasse oberhalb von Milbitz, einem Ortsteil von Gera (Thüringen), zeigt die sogenannte Zechstein-Transgression: Terrestrische Rotliegend-Ablagerungen werden von einem Transgressionskonglomerat überlagert, welches in marine Kalksteine („Mutterflöz“, durch Maschendraht gegen Steinschlag gesichert und z.T. von Vegetation bedeckt) übergeht. |
