Deutsch: Beschreibung aus Karl Woermanns Galeriekatalog 1887: Der Alchymist. Er sitzt in grauem Pelzrock und roter Pelzmütze links vorn unter rotbraunem Vorhang am Heerd, auf dem seine Retorten stehen, und schürt das Feuer mit einem Handblasebalg. Rechts vorn ein Hündchen. Im Mittelgrunde ein zweiter Heerd, dessen Feuer ein Arbeiter mittels eines Riesenblasebalgs schürt. Rechts daneben ein Mann, der etwas mit einem Mörser stösst und vier Männer am Tische. Bez. r. u.: D. Teniers. Fec. Leinwand: h. 0,60 m; br. 0,73 m
