Description
Deutsch: Walter Baade (1893-1960), Gedenktafel für einen der anregendsten Astronomen und Astrophysiker des 20. Jahrhunderts seit 2007 am Schulgebäude (jetzt Feuerwehrmuseum) seines Geburtsortes Schröttinghausen, Stadt Preußisch Oldendorf. Baade arbeitete seit 1931 an den größten Teleskopen in Kalifornien. Noch im Jahre 2000 wurde eins der beiden Magellan Teleskope in Chile ihm zu Ehren Walter Baade Telescope genannt. Inschrift: Wer einmal bewusst in den Kosmos geschaut hat, muss bescheiden werden und erkennen, dass er nur ein Staubkorn ist. Prof. Dr. Walter Baade.
Hier ging einer der bedeutendsten Astronomen des 20. Jahrhunderts Prof. Dr. Walter Baade von 1899 bis 1901 zur Schule.

English: Walter Baade (1893-1960), memorial plaque for one of the most inspiring astonomers and astrophysicists attached in 2007 to the school building (now museum of the village fire brigade) at his birthplace Schröttinghausen, part of Preußisch Oldendorf, Germany. Since 1931 Baade worked with the largest telescopes in California. To his memory even in the year 2000 one of the Magellan Telescopes in Chile was given the name Walter Baade Telescope.
