| Description |
English: Gates and Railings by the Shropshire Union Canal Looking across George Street to a pair of Victorian gateposts dated 1875 on the carved shields. The gates seem to access nothing more than a grassy bank that slopes down to the Shropshire Union Canal. Beyond the trees it is just possible to make out the bulk of the city walls on the other side of the canal. There is a benchmark at the bottom of the left hand pillar - 1663321. Since 2007 the level of the pavement has been raised and the bench mark can no longer be seen 1663336 |
