Español: Gastrotheca marsupiata: La existencia de un repliegue entrante en el centro de la parte posterior del lomo 6 de la región lumbar, que forma una bolsa cilíndrica de cerca de un centímetro de profundidad, y cuya abertura se ensancha y encoge en cierto modo a voluntad del individuo. Todo induce a creer que está destinada para receptáculo de los huevos después de la puesta. Tiene la cabeza plana, los ojos no son muy salientes, las extremidades posteriores sobresalen hastante del hocico cuando están tendidas, la empalmadura de los dedos es tan corta, que los deja libres en las tres cuartas partes de su extensión; el lomo y los costados están cubiertos de pequeñas glándulas aplanadas, como las que presentan el pecho y el vientre, reconociéndose muchos poros bien marcados. En la parte posterior de los muslos se ven granitos muy finos, y el resto de las regiones inferiores es lisa. Sobre el tímpano existe una pequena protuberancia glandulosa, y otra de la misma naturaleza detrás de la comisura de los labios. Todas las partes inferiores del animal son de un gris oscuro matizado de pardo, con puntitos blancos sobre un fondo negruzco. El abdomen es gris y la garganta agrisada.
Distribución geográfica: México y los Andes, y parece que también se encuentra en Perú. |
