| Description |
English: Gaping Gill winch meet 1975 This is the annual August bank holiday week winch meet of the Craven Pothole Club, seen in 1975. Fell Beck is diverted by a temporary dam so that it is all absorbed by sinks upstream of the main shaft to give cavers a drier descent. Many members of CPC and other clubs camp by the stream all week in a variety of tents ranging from up-to-the-minute mountain tents to makeshift canvas hovels. This was a good year when the weather remained dry and the winch could operate all week. |
