Summary[edit]

Description

Oblique HRSC image of Gale Crater and its surroundings. This image shows the dark dune fields surrounding Mt. Sharp and the long tail of dark dune material that has been blown away from the crater. This streak represents the general regional wind direction.

This image was taken through HRSC's panchromatic nadir channel during Mars Express' 13162nd orbit of Mars, July 26, 2013.
