The Blanket flower (Gaillardia aristata) is native to the Kulm Wetland Management District. This widespread flower has been cultivated for gardening interests as well. Native species have yellow petals, while many bred varieties have exaggerated red in their petals. These were photographed on prairie at the Kosanke Waterfowl Production Area in North Dakota.
