Description
Giovanna Albizi Tornabuoni, esposa del hijo de un importante noble de la corte de Lorenzo el Magnífico, es retratada de estricto perfil, tipología clásica recuperada por el Quattroccento italiano de las monedas y medallas conmemorativas. Se piensa que fue un encargo de su marido para preservar con esta imagen la belleza y memoria de su esposa después de su muerte en un parto. Completamente efectista en la colocación de un aparador tras la figura, que logra con las líneas de fuga y los objetos, crear cierta perspectiva. El gran realismo aplicado en el peinado, rasgos faciales, brocados del atuendo, acentúa la belleza, un tanto idealizada, de un retrato que remite igualmente a las cualidades humanas de la representada.
