Fungal urinary tract infection (UTI) is an indicator of plenty of yeast cells and pus cells in urine microscopy.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: In a urine microscopy sample from a patient with a fungal UTI, you might observe the following: Yeast Cells-Fungal UTIs are often caused by yeast species, most commonly Candida. Under the microscope, yeast cells will appear as round to oval-shaped structures. They are typically larger than bacterial cells and may show budding or pseudohyphae (elongated extensions). These yeast cells can vary in size and might be seen both individually and in clusters. Pus Cells (White Blood Cells)-Pus cells, which are primarily white blood cells (leukocytes), are a sign of inflammation and infection. They appear as small, spherical cells with a multi-lobed nucleus. The presence of pus cells in the urine indicates an immune response to the infection. Other Elements- In addition to yeast cells and pus cells, you may also observe other components typically found in urine, such as red blood cells, epithelial cells from the urinary tract lining, and sometimes crystals, depending on the patient's overall health and the specific conditions of the infection. Background- The background of the microscopy slide may show various structures and debris, depending on the patient's condition and the laboratory processing the sample. These structures can include mucus, cellular debris, and bacteria.
