Summary[edit]

Description
English: Postcard from the island of Madeira, Portugal, sent in 1914 from Funchal (the capital of the island and the archipelago of Madeira). The postcard was printed in "collotype", with great quality and clarity. The photographer who originally obtained the image was "MOP" (Manoel D'Olim Perestrello), by the year 1914 (between 1900 and 1914). In this view we see a "corsa" pulled by two oxen, with a different cargo box of mineral water (brand Apollinaris) and Madeira wine, fruit and pumpkins. This photograph was taken next to a door "Reid's Palace Hotel." These goods were for consumption by tourists staying at this hotel in Funchal. A "corsa" - or "corça de bois" was an ancient means of transport, characteristic of the island of Madeira.
