All in basically mint condition. When I first saw the car I thought 'I wonder whether there are any hubcaps inside' and consequently my eyes bulged when I opened the drivers' door and saw a full set! However, I only bought one of them as they were mint and I could never find something as good as it on the street. Some of you might think I should have left them all there rather than take one from a full set, but my reasoning is that Sierra hubcaps are not the most desirable item because the Sierra has not reached the full-on classic status of its Cortina predecessor yet in NZ (and will probably take some time yet to do so). Most of the other parts will probably go but it is unlikely that anybody is going to be looking for a full set of hubcaps. And furthermore, what happens if nobody else wants them - at this particular help-yourself scrap yard cars get crushed after it's just the shells left, so if I didn't save at least one of them an entire set of mint Sierra hubcaps could be lost. The place charged me a set fee of $9 for 1 hubcap anyway - I wasn't going to pay $36 for the lot of them! I may be going back to this yard soon. If the car's gone, I'll be glad I saved one. If it's still there with the other 3 hubcaps then maybe I might save the rest of them but it's costly... |
