Summary[edit]

Description
English: Frinton-on-Sea: One of many groynes The beach at Frinton has many groynes, designed and built to stabilize the movement of sand along the beach, so-called longshore drift. Here at Frinton the groynes are alternately full length, like this one, extending into the sea even at low tide, and half length such that the seaward end is exposed at low tide. They are spaced about 50 yards, or 46 metres, apart along the beach.
