"A lady called Madame de Montespan (1640-1707), full length in crimson dress, the white bodice and train embroidered in gold and decorated with jewels, blue stole, holding a garland of roses, standing on a terrace; landscape background"
Description
English: So-called Portrait of Madame de Montespan (1640-1707), but is probably a depiction of Maria Anna Victoria of Bavaria, Dauphine of France (1660-1690) or Anne Henriette of Bavaria, Princess of Condé (1648-1723).
  • Identification proposed by user Ecummenic (talk) based on the comparison with some portraits of those princesses (see images below) and the lack of physical resemblance of the sitter of this portrait to verified representations of Madame de Montespan.
