Title
Reliquary Shrine with Scenes from the Life of Christ
Description
English: One long side of this shrine shows the Massacre of the Innocents, with the dog-faced Devil counseling the enthroned King Herod at the far right of the lower panel. Above, the Virgin and Child are led by Joseph toward an open gateway to flee into Egypt from the slaughter shown behind and below them. The opposite long side has cast figures of Christ enthroned between Apostles John and James, above, and the Virgin with the Christ Child in her lap between Archangels Raphael and Gabriel below. The Annunciation is displayed on one end. The shrine has lost its wooden core, as well as the door that once sealed the relics inside.
