Title
English: Fremont Bridge under construction, Seattle, November 16, 1916
Description
English:

The original bridge to Fremont was razed in 1911 to make way for the dredging of the Lake Washington Canal and temporary bridges were constructed to reroute traffic.

This image was taken during construction of the new permanent bridge, which was completed in 1917 and connects Fremont Avenue North on the Fremont side of the Lake Washington Ship Canal and Fourth Avenue North on the Queen Anne Hill side. The image is facing south, towards Queen Anne; the building in the center of the frame was once a grocery and feed store belonged to Carl Signor, located at 151 Nickerson Street.

James P. Lee (1894-1963) was the City of Seattle's Engineering Department photographer from 1922-1957.
