Summary[edit]

Description One of two contemporary photos of a statue by Pomeroy, acquired by the Walker Art Gallery but apparently lost. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, for an art gallery to lose a statue smacks of carelessness. The image of a statue holding a statuette is reminiscent of Hippolyte Moulin's Une Trouvaille a Pompei, while the kneeling pose recalls Harry Bates' Pandora and Edward Onslow Ford's Applause.
