| Description |
English: Built in 1897, this Shingle-style mansion was designed by Edward B. Franzheim for his brother, Harry C. Franzheim. The house features a front and double side gambrel roof, a wooden clapboard-clad exterior, one-over-one double-hung windows, decorative glass transoms, a cylindrical front tower with a conical roof, a cylindrical tower with a conical roof at the southeast corner of the house, a front porch with a hipped roof, wooden shingle-clad base, fluted ionic columns, an elliptical oxeye window north of the front tower, a rough-hewn stone base, and an eyebrow dormer on the roof north of the front tower. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, and is a contributing structure in the Wheeling Island Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. The house was restored in the 1990s under the direction of McKinley and Associates. |
