Description
English: Catholic procession in an unidentified Italian town. Dorotheum sold this painting under the title »Prozessionszug in Neapel«, but the streets and buildings portrayed there do not exist in Naples. (See the discussion page.)
The painting is registered in the catalogue raisonné of Unterberger’s paintings as “Neapel, eine Prozession”, where a dating of ca. 1878 is given. The auction house probably took the “Naples” identification of the depicted subject from the same book.
