It holds a greenhouse conservatory (the first of which was built in 1895) and a lake. It has long been known for its horticultural excellence. Franklin Park hosted the first Franklin County Fair, October 11, 1852, and was home to the Ohio State Fair from 1874 to 1884. The park was owned and operated by Columbus Parks and Recreation until 1989 and is now run by the Franklin Park Conservatory Joint Recreation District, and ownership was conferred to a 10-member board of trustees and executive director. |
