Developer Frank Goodwin, 1865-1954. In 1907 Goodwin had recently returned with a small fortune from the Klondike Gold Rush, and formed Goodwin Real Estate Company with with his brothers. He saw an opportunity in the flourishing market and began construction of the permanent arcades that make up the heart of today's Market. In 1910 he formed the Public Market & Department Store Company to manage the properties, and expand the arcade towards the water. In 1916 they obtained the building at 1st and Pike and made it an expansion of the main arcade. Mr Goodwin also was a founder and director of the Seaboard Branch Seattle-First National Bank and a founder and director of Fulton Petroleum Corp. and the Carbon Dioxice and Chemical Co.
