Fragment of an attic greek black-figure terracotta plate
Description
Two male figures, one possibly the god Hermes. Like the inside of a cup, the central portion of a plate required an artist to compose his subject within a circle. The verticality of the figures here suggests that Lydos provided a horizontal ground line for them. His artistic personality is evident in the breadth of his figures and the controlled execution of detail.
