Title
Fragment from the arm of a cross
Description
English: Unknown object: a fragment of copper alloy with an iron core, possibly from the arm of a cross-shaped object. It has one broken edge, two concave edges, and a straight edge, suggesting that it originally formed one arm of a cross-shaped artefact or mount (cross pattee style). Both obverse and reverse feature simple inscribed crosses of rectalinear form. This indicates that the cross must have been of free-standing or pendant form, rather than being a mount. The cross fragment is probably of medieval or postmedieval date, but its precise function cannot be aascertained.
