Title
Fourteenth-century buckle brooch
Description
English: A late medieval (14th century) cast copper alloy buckle-shaped brooch. The brooch is annular, and its pin is intact, though no longer securely attached to the ring. The ring has a external diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 2.92mm. It is flattened in section, and slightly uneven / irregular in shape. The pin is straight and flattened, with a rectangular section. Its obverse is decorated with a short field of 3 paralklel transverse grooves. It is attached to the ring by a wide (ext iameter 10.1mm) loop, probably now broken, though there are no clear broken edges. The sides of the pin are marked with oblique scratch (?tool) marks. The brooch has an even dark green patina.
