Summary[edit]
DescriptionFort Wainwright Main Gate during 1967 flood.jpg |
English: A helicopter lands on Gaffney Road a short distance west of the main gate of Fort Wainwright during the Tanana Valley flooding of 1967. The gate can be seen ahead, at the time located near the present-day intersection of Airport Way / Gaffney Road (a former northern terminus of Alaska Route 3) with the Richardson and Steese highways (Alaska Route 2). Abandonded vehicles alongside crumbling pavement of the road's shoulders can also be seen. |
