Summary[edit]

Description
English: The building long known as the John Thomas Building. It was owned by Anchorage's city government and was known as the first public building in Alaska named in honor of an African-American. It was taken over by the nonprofit RurAL CAP and converted to housing for people struggling with alcohol dependencies. It sits in between Anchorage's two main locations providing homeless shelters and soup kitchens, which has ignited tensions with adjoining property owners.
