Summary[edit]

Description
English: Foreshore and Canniesile Skerry, Holm, Orkney. The body of water here is the Holm Sound, which extends to the open sea ("leftwards" in the photograph) and to the No.1 Churchill Barrier in the other. The land across the water is the connected Southern Isle of Burray - called "connected" because the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 Churchill Barriers provide a road link. Sheltered from the worst of winter storms, the foreshore slopes gently down to the water, typical of sheltered coastlines in this area.
