| Description |
English: Ford on the Pennine Way, Saddleworth This hardly counts as a ford, but is marked on the 1:25000 map as one of two 'Fords' along with the streams. I was interested in the enormous number of stones on the path, thinking that by now they would have been kicked aside. How did they get there in the first place? I suppose they were exposed when the soil was eroded away as the path was created by many booted feet. |
