Description
The group of figures depicts St. Anne with her adolescent daughter Mary (mother of Jesus) on her right. On her left arm Anna carries the infant Jesus. She embodied the maternal virtues and exemplified the family model praised by the Counter-Reformation; hence the tenderness that can be felt in the group of figures.

Object history The group of figures and the column were created in 1559 in the workshop of Hans Gieng. Hans Schäuffelin protected the figures with colors, which no longer exist. The composite capital is younger, the sculptor Tschupphauer created it in 1763. In the same year, he also carried out some repairs to the group of figures. In 1927, the entire fountain was overhauled.
