Deutsch: Focke Wulf A16, erstes Bremer Verkehrsflugzeug.
Ende 1923 wurde in Bremen die Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau A.G. gegründet. Geschäftsführer waren die Freunde Henrich Focke und Georg Wulf, die sich schon vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg mit der Entwicklung von Flugzeugen beschäftigt hatten. Den ersten Auftrag über den Bau von drei Kleinflugzeugen vom Typ A 16 erhielt die Firma von der Bremer Luftverkehrsgesellschaft, die auch Teilhaber des Unternehmens war. 21 Flugzeuge wurden von 1924 bis 1927 gebaut. Mit einer Reichweite von rund 500 Kilometern und einer Reisegeschwindigkeit von 130 km/h flog die A 16 unter anderem im Bäderdienst zwischen Bremen und den Ostfriesischen Inseln. 1936 wurden die letzten Maschinen außer Dienst gestellt. Die A 16 war der Grundstein für den Erfolg der Firma Focke-Wulf und deren Nachfolger EADS Airbus Bremen. Da keines der Originalflugzeuge die Zeiten überdauert hat, entschloss sich Airbus 1988 im Rahmen der Traditionspflege eine zweiundzwanzigste Maschine zu bauen. Mit großem persönlichem Einsatz fertigten Techniker, Auszubildende und ehemalige Mitarbeiter innerhalb von acht Monaten einen nicht flugfähigen Nachbau an. Nachdem die Maschine 20 Jahre im Hamburger Airbuswerk ausgestellt war, wurde sie 2008 dem Technikmuseum Berlin als Schenkung überlassen. |
