Summary[edit]

Description

Ice is a plastic material the slowly deforms under its own weight. The ice flows around mountains that are in its way. In this photo taken during an IceBridge survey flight, you can see and example from northeast Greenland where the glacier is hugging a ridge, nicely flowing around it.
