Description

Seit dem Ende der britischen Kolonialzeit befinden sich Indien und Pakistan in einem Konflikt miteinander, der bereits vier Kriege zur Folge hatte. Nur wenige regionale Konflikte waren von so langer Dauer wie der indisch-pakistanische Konflikt vor allem um das umstrittene Gebiet von Jammu und Kaschmir.

In Kooperation mit den Büros der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in Delhi und Lahore kamen auf Initiative indischer und pakistanischer NGOs im Januar 2010 Vertreter der Zivilgesellschaften beider Länder zu einer Friedenskonferenz in Delhi zusammen, der Indo-Pakistan Peace Conference. Nach Abbruch der offiziellen Friedensverhandlungen zwischen Indien und Pakistan nach den Terroranschlägen von Mumbai im November 2008 saßen damit erstmals wieder Repräsentanten beider Seiten an einem Tisch. Sie fordern die Wiederaufnahme der Regierungsgespräche und einen Fahrplan zur bilateralen Versöhnung und regionalen Stabilität.

Die Konferenz wurde organisiert von ANHAD, Centre for Policy Analysis, COVA, Focus on the Global South India, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Hind-Pak Dosti Manch, Peace Mumbai, SAHR, SANGAT und SAPA.
