NEW YORK (Nov. 6, 2012) Engineman 2nd Class Phillip Smith and Damage Controlman 3rd Class Logan Sellers, both assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Antonio (LPD 17), monitor a suction hose of a P-100 dewatering pump at Freedom Island, N.Y. San Antonio has been tasked to assist in the dewatering of buildings damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The U.S. Navy has positioned forces in the area to assist U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) in support of FEMA and local civil authorities following the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy.
