| Description |
English: Fishing boat replaces ferry This picture of a very ordinary fishing boat off Kyle of Lochalsh was only submitted because the circumstances were most unusual. On that day, the much larger craft normally used on the Mallaig to Kyle coastal service had broken down, and this fishing boat, the 'Western Isles', was hired in with crew as a replacement. It is seen here just off Kyle Pier with passengers waiting to disembark. The 'Western Isles' then formed the return service to Mallaig, during which the weather, already bad, became appalling with torrential rain, and the crew very kindly invited the few passengers to go below into the private quarters. |
