Summary[edit]

English: On October 5, 1954, an NRL-launched Aerobee rocket carrying a 16mm movie camera captured the first high-altitude images of a tropical storm over the Gulf of Mexico, sparking the interest of the U.S. Weather Bureau and the future of high-altitude weather reconnaissance.
