Title
First-Century Brooch: Late Iron Age to Early Roman Colchester Brooch
Description
English: 1st Century Fibula Brooch: Late Iron Age/ Early Roman Colchester one-piece brooch. The brooch has narrow (15.9mm) wings, and a long (51.2mm), gently curving bow with a slightly bulbous foot. The head of the bow bears the remnant of a 5.7mm diameter stud. The head and foot bear simple line ornament, but the bow itself is unornamented. Interestingly, the curve of the bow has a slight return at the foor, which is more typical of continental examples than Romano-British Colchester type brooches.

The brooch has a rough surface and a patchy green-brown patina.
