| Description |
English: Fingringhoe Oak (11978) This is the famous Fingringhoe Oak tree number 11978 on the Woodland Trusts Ancient Tree Hunt http://www.ancienttreehunt.org.uk/ this magnificent specimen is said to be over 600 years old. I was told as a child that an acorn was placed in the mouth of a pirate when he was buried. If true this grave marker has certainly stood the test of time. The trunk has a girth of over seven metres. |
