Title
Finger ring
Description
English: A copper alloy finger ring, with a narrow rectangular bezel, and a small portion of the hoop protruding from each side. Most of the hoop no longer survives; the breaks are very worn. There appears to be a backwards capital letter ‘P’ on the bezel, but the surface is badly pitted, making the rest of the motif difficult to see. There maybe a line adjacent to the backwards P. It is equally possible that this is in fact a letter ‘R’. This finger ring could be a signet ring, used to seal documents, in which case the letter on the bezel would appear the correct way around on the wax seal. The surface is a mid greenish-grey colour but is very corroded. This finger ring is likely to date to the 15th or 16th centuries.
