Description
Nederlands: Het Fietsmonument in Broekhuizen (Lb). Ieder jaar vindt vanaf 1958 op carnavalsdinsdag de "Tour de Brokeze" plaats. Dit is een kolderieke wielerwedstrijd van zelf in elkaar geknutselde fietsen. In 1984 werd het feit herdacht dat de parochie van de H. Nicolaas 500 jaar bestond. De Commissie Kunst van de Stichting Broekhuizen 500, die in 1984 uitgebreide feesten organiseerde om dat feit te vieren, schreef n.a.v. de Tour de Brokeze een wedstrijd uit voor de mooiste fiets. Hay Coenders (alias Heinz Koenraad) kreeg de prijs voor de mooiste fiets van dat jaar. Deze fiets werd na afloop als monument aan de rand van het dorp Broekhuizen geplaatst. De kunstenaar Toon van de Ven ontwierp de mooie sokkel waarop de fiets sinds die tijd weer en wind trotseert en toeristen laat kennismaken met een exponent van het fenomeen "Tour de Brokeze".
