| Description |
Deutsch: Luftbild des Fernmeldeturms Kahlheid (107 m hoch), aufgenommen aus einem Tragschrauber. Fliegt man von Trier aus nach Osten (Richtung Mannheim), dann liegt der Turm auf der Strecke. Er steht auf 767 m ü. NN im Idarwald auf der Grenze der Landkreise Bernkastel-Wittlich und Birkenfeld in Rheinland-Pfalz zwischen Morbach und Allenbach; seine Spitze liegt also auf 874 m ü. NN. Will man dort nicht in die Kontrollzone D des Flughafens Frankfurt-Hahn einfliegen (ab 3500 Fuß=1067 m), kann man nicht viel höher fliegen. In der Ferne links oben im Bild ist der etwa 40 km Luftlinie entfernte Fernmeldeturm Bornberg (Turmhöhe 151 m) bei Eßweiler zu erkennen.
English: Aerial view of the Kahlheid telecommunications tower (107 m high), taken from a gyrocopter. If you fly east from Trier (towards Mannheim), the tower is on the route. It stands at 767 m above sea level in the Idarwald forest on the border of the districts of Bernkastel-Wittlich and Birkenfeld in Rhineland-Palatinate between Morbach and Allenbach; its top is therefore 874 m above sea level. If you don't want to fly into control zone D of Frankfurt-Hahn airport there (from 3500 feet=1067 m), you can't fly much higher. In the distance at the top left of the picture you can see the Bornberg telecommunications tower (tower height 151 m) near Eßweiler, about 40 km away as the crow flies. |
