Summary[edit]

Description
English: Female funerary statue. Marble. Found in the ancient cemetery in Stadiou Street, Athens. The figure is rendered in the type of the Large Herculaneum Woman. She wears a full-length chiton and a himation that covers her head and swathes her entire body. The statue is a copy dating from the 1st c. A.D. of a famous original carved about 320 B.C., probably by Praxiteles. Accession number: 3622. National Archaeological Museum of Athens. Text: Museum inscription.
