Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sun pillar as seen when the sun is still behind the horizon . Even more rare is the lake-reflection effect which is shown on this occasion (not real also because there is no water in between).

The photo was taken at 44°18'54.33"N / 11°19'50.32"E on Oct 22 2007 between 7:17 and 7:24 AM (camera time settings were not correct). The expected time for sunrise at this location on that day was 7:34 AM, so the phenomenon anticipated at least 10 minutes the real sunrise. This is a digitally zoomed closeup of Image:False_Sunrise.jpg
