English: Falkirk Wheel This is the only rotating boat lift in the world - it acts rather like a ferris wheel and turns at about the same speed. Long ago 11 locks took the Union Canal down to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and had long since disappeared when at huge expense this magnificent piece of engineering was constructed to do the same job. |
