| Description |
English: First shot of a faded sign directing motorists to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly known as the Triborough Bridge) on the northwest corner of Astoria Boulevard North and 49th Street in the Ditmars-Steinway neighborhood of the Astoria section of Queens, New York City. The Triborough Bridge was built in 1936, and was renamed for former senator and assassinated 1968 Presidential candidate Robert Francis Kennedy due to pressure from the Kennedy family. If the replaced sign is in such diminished condition after roughly 10 years, it doesn't say much for the quality of sign manufacturing in the present age. |
