English: For outstanding accomplishment, three U.S. Air Force Engineers from the 777th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron at Kandahar Airfield receive Army Achievement Medals, Jan. 24, Forward Operating Base Farah, Afghanistan. The three Airmen, Staff Sgt. Destrey Robbins, a plumber originally from Madison, Neb., Senior Airman Daniel Smith, an electrician originally from Helena, Mont., and Airman 1st Class Whitney Sargent, a plumber who hails from Tucson, Ariz., all deployed to Afghanistan from Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. They travelled to FOB Farah with the geologist heading up the technical aspect of the Theater Well Drilling Program, Drew Clemens, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. After a life-health and safety memo was submitted to U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, FOB Farah was bumped up on the priority list to receive a primary and a backup deep-water-supply well. The four-man team working for the 30th Naval Construction Regiment arrived at FOB Farah, Jan. 18, to assess the well and water distribution system. Once the well evaluation was complete and Clemens had about two days of report writing, the three Airmen volunteered their skills to the FOB Mayor who gladly put them to work fixing plumbing issues and wiring new buildings or expansions with lighting and electrical outlets. Because of their hard work, the Commander of the 4-73rd Cavalry Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, who is responsible for the FOB didn't hesitate to honor the Airmen with the achievement medals. |
