  • Scope and content: FISHERMEN ALONG THE CUYAHOGA RIVER NEAR THE SPILLWAY UNDER THE OHIO HIGHWAY 82 BRIDGE NEAR CLEVELAND. THE RIVER IS PART OF THE CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL RECREATION AREA CONTAINING 30,000 ACRES WHICH IS THE LAST MAJOR UNDEVELOPED LAND REMAINING BETWEEN THE METROPOLITAN AREAS OF CLEVELAND AND AKRON. THE VALLEY BETWEEN THE CITIES INCLUDES SOME 40,000 ACRES OF WHICH MORE THAN 80 PERCENT IS STEEPLY SLOPED AND HEAVILY WOODED. THE AREA IS RICH IN INDIAN HISTORY AND WAS IMPORTANT IN CANAL COMMERCE IN THE 19TH CENTURY
