.THE HISTORICAL BACKGRAND OF FADILAT SHEIKH UTHMAN AKANBI LANASE, popularly known as sheikh Lanase, was born in the historic city of Ibadan land, his father's name was Baba Lanase who was one of the great warrior in Ibadanland, Baba Lanase who was stayed in various places before he finally settled down in ancient Ibadan in the early 18th centur, and sheikh Uthman Lanase's mother was seyyidah Ahisha(Business woman) who was one of the daughter of the Islamic scholar in Zaria, in northern part of Nigeria, seyyida Ahisha who migrated from the ancient Zaria and stayed in several places and finally settled in ancient Ilorin in early 18tcentury. Fadilat sheikh Uthman Lanase was great orator, mentor who preaches with humility, fact and intellectual composer, a good listener and he was a distinguished prolific writer, public commentator and above all a spiritual leader. Shaikh Uthman Lanase was a religious teacher and Islamic promoter and he was a leader whose followed the sunni Malik school of jurisprudence and he also was of Yoruba descent, he was well educated in classical Islamic science, phylosophy, theology and other rudimentary aspect of Islamic education under the tutelage of his teacher, the great sheikh in zaria, fadilat shaikh mallam sanni of kofandoka Zaria in northern part of Nigeria . We can easily recollect the effort sheikh mallam sanni of Zaria, it was on record that sheikh mallan sanni did not teach sheikh Uthman Lanase anything twice throughout his quranic education because he had a magnectic and photocopic brain. In 1896 sheikh U. lanase started his quranic education in Zaria the northern part of Nigeria, during his sojourn he learnt quranic interpretation, Islamic law, Islamic culture and the ways or sunah of the holy prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) from sheikh mallam sanni ( alfa agba in Zaria). Before 1900, the popularity of sheikh Lanase (R.A)had reached greater heights because of the miracles that surrounded his learning prowess and behavious among pals. During the regime of late chief imam of ibadanland Sheikh haruna matanmi (oke gege) In 1930 sheikh Lanase return to Ibadan (his own town)to established the institute of Arabic and Islamic training centre and his pre- occupation at all times was to assist every Muslims and his hope and aspiration was to see the flag of al-Islam hoisted throughout the world, after archiving this he also leave to other places around the world. In 1936 he finally settled down in Ibadan during the regime of late chief imam of Ibadan sheikh imam ali muhammad Afasegbejo Haruna 2 in agbeni,And sheikh Lanase's institute of Arabic and Islamic centre in Aremo Ibadan in which this historic fountain of knowledge "Orisun Imo"had produced thousands of Islamic scholars, among the scholars are sheikh Muritadoh Abdul Salam ( The founder of Arabic Institute of Nigeria Ibadan a.k.a Almahdul Arabiy An-nieriyy), sheikh Abdul Majeed Eleta (the founder of Shamsu Suhud Madrasat), sheihk Salahudeen Bello (baba Olodo), sheikh Nur Hakeem in Ilorin, sheihk Abdul Ganiy Ologba (baba logba),sheikh muhammadul awal tariqa (baba tariqa),sheikh zakariyah eleduwe and sheikh Abdul Salam Adebolu (the first khalifah khulafah of Yoruba land),sheikh abdul ganiy ologba,sheikh shuarah oke offa,sheikh kharasimi dalegan,sheikh alimi agbangun,sheikh abdul mumini tijani zawia,imam abubakir ifan,sheikh muhibudin ilobu,sheikh tijani and sheikh uwaiz alafara,sheikh sanusi alaaka,sheikh abdul rahim itaragbeomo,sheikh yushau ile oni sakara,sheikh abdul azeez oyo,sheikh muh jamih zaria,sheikh shit ogbomoso,sheikh hamad tijani saki,sheikh muh solih iwo and sheikh abdul hamid yahusa,Sheikh Murtadoh fashasi and sheikh baba wa Hamzat Oyo among many others. they are more than eight hundred student who graduated from this institute in his lifetime. Sheikh Uthman Lanase (R.A) whose influence on his student was like that of sheikh-l- Islam ibn Taymiya and his student, imam ibnul Qayim Aljawziyyah, rahimahumaa Allah, sheikh Lanase had an indelible impart on all his student to the extent that all their wives were known to be observant of the Islamic veil or niqaab without any exception. Sheikh Uthman Lanase started his own tefzir on 15th of October 1939C.E which equivalent to 1st of ramadan 1358A.H at Oke offa Atipe in Ibadan and as sheikh Lanase'S lecture advanced and his piety, extreme, simplicity, exceptional, interlectual, ability and charismatic personality began to attract disciples from his society. Fadilatul Sheikh Mawlana Alh. Uthman Akanbi Lanase, was a loving family man who loves his wives and children, he never allow his wives to do anything hard work and he was not harsh and was loved by every member of his family, he married four wives and also had ten children but he was survived by four wives and eight children among others are, Fadilat sheikh-l-Islam alh.imam Qasim Uthman Lanase ( the first khalifah of sheikh Lanase), sheikh imam Murtadoh Uthman Lanase ( current chief imam of Lanase central mosque Aremo Ibadan), sheikh Adul Rahman Uthman Lanase (current chief tefzir of Lanase central mosque Aremo Ibadan),fadilat sheikh Ibrahim Lanase,fadilat sheikh Abdul Wahab Lanase,fadilat sheikh Muh.Dahud Lanase, Seyidah Alhaja Salamot Kharasi Dalegan lanase, Seyidah Alhaja Fatimoh Tijani Lanase( Iya Adajo) Long live to the entire Lanase dynasty. Many evidences abound to prove that Fadilat Sheikh Uthman Lanase (R.A) was an Awliyah'llah (saintly person) The karamas (miracles) which he performed during his lifetime were seen in those who were dependent on him and who followed his true path. We are from almighty allah and to him is our return fadilat sheikh uthman Lanase deperted this world on Wednesday 14th of April 1954 equvelent to Wednesday 10th of shaban 1373 A.H.may almighty allah grant him absolute and Eternal peace and illuminate his grave with light (AMEEN).
